A Floral-Themed Wedding Day

The love story

M + J grew up together. They lived in the same neighborhood and attended the same church congregation growing up. Don’t you just love any story that starts out like that? Justin was not shy in telling Marlee how much he loved her shoes or her dresses in any attempt to get closer to her. They would sit together on the bus ride home from school singing songs and just being together.

As their friendship progressed, they made a last resort deal with one another that if neither of them was married by 28 they would marry each other. Their exact words were “so that they could spend their lives together laughing rather than being alone.” After Justin’s return from his LDS mission, their relationship quickly became more than a friendship and their “Plan B” turned into “Plan A” and they were engaged in May of 2022. Following their wedding, M + J moved to Oklahoma to pursue Justin’s career in football.

The two were married at Snowbasin Ski Resort in Northern Utah. Whether you’re there for skiing or for a wedding, it is truly a gorgeous location. The resort was particularly snowy after a nice long Utah winter, but the snow had nothing on the sunny weather that showed up on the big day. It created the perfect bright backdrop of green and white for their outdoor ceremony. The surrounding lodges and ski lifts added a fun ambiance to their wedding photos as well.

The interior of the lodge was transformed into a warm and inviting space, perfect for the all-night celebration that followed their ceremony. After the outdoor ceremony backdropped by the spectacular Utah mountains, M + J treated their guests to an all-out pizza buffet.

Their reception space was complete with a small photo timeline of their relationship, an audio guestbook with a “leave a message at the tone” rotary phone, and a photo booth with a beautiful floral backdrop. This truly was the wedding of flowers, as one of the bride's biggest priorities while planning was incorporating flowers- and Mandy at the Potted Pansy blew us away with her designs.
