Ashley + Abhineet — Salt Lake City Wedding
A day full of rich culture and bright colors.
Ashley and Abhineet had a wedding day full of life, color, culture, and personality. It was the kind of day movies are made of. Seriously, it was such a beautiful day.
This couple is an internet dating success story: they met on Bumble during the pandemic. They have two dogs together who shared in the wedding festivities as part of the couple’s engagement photos and as a custom bar sign on the wedding day.
Ashley and Abhineet were married in June at This Is The Place in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Pioneer Center has a beautiful outdoor area that sits up against the foothills. Without any buildings in sight, it feels like a much more remote location than it is.
Their wedding design was an explosion of color. From the florals to the signage, this wedding was full of fun hues. (The pink and orange roses were a favorite for sure.)
Honoring their cultures
Their union was not only between them as individuals but between their cultures as well. Ashley is Jewish and Abhineet is Indian, so their entire wedding celebration was packed full of meaningful traditions.
The wedding festivities started out the night before with a traditional Indian Mehndi party. During this party, the bride-to-be’s hands were covered in beautiful and intricate henna tattoos for the next day. Just before the ceremony, Abhineet was honored with the grand entrance which is a tradition in Indian culture. He rode up the hill to the venue in an amazing vintage car, surrounded by friends and family.
On the wedding day
On the day of the wedding, there was definitely some stress about whether or not the looming rain clouds would upend the celebration. Thanks to some good luck and our fabulous team of vendors, the day continued on to be just as perfect as ever. There is always something that can go wrong on event days, which is why it’s so important to be prepared with vendors who know how to adjust their plans to turn things around if need be.
Ashley and Abhineet shared their vows in front of a brightly decorated chuppah from Ashley’s Jewish background. After the ceremony, they honored another aspect of their cultures with the tradition of breaking the glass. The wedding party then moved inside to enjoy an Indian dinner buffet from a local Salt Lake restaurant, Saffron Circle.
When it was time for dancing, the floor was opened with another Jewish tradition which involved the bride, groom, and mother of the bride being hoisted above the crowd on chairs. It was such a fun and hilarious way to get the party started. Everyone eventually moved outside as the rain clouds cleared up. Dancing under the stars on the patio was the perfect end to a perfect day.
