The Beauty of Intimate Weddings
Planning a Wedding That is True to You
In our years of event planning, we have had the privilege of working on celebrations of all scales. There is definitely a place for both large and small gatherings. In the wedding industry, grand events are commonly what brides plan for and dream of. While there is nothing wrong with a big wedding, there is something truly magical about an intimate celebration.
Over the last few years, the intimate wedding trend has become more and more popular. Small weddings have always been an option, but the idea really started gaining traction in 2020, when the typical grandiose gatherings weren't an option.
We love that the trend has stuck around and don’t think it’s going anywhere soon.
From the perspective of an event planner, it’s easy to see that intimate weddings have such a strong appeal. They are different from an elopement, which is usually just the couple and the officiant. Intimate weddings have less than 50 guests in attendance, which lends itself to a quieter, more personal day.
As the bride and groom, you should plan the wedding that you want. However, if you find yourself on the fence about what size celebration you want, here are a few reasons why an intimate wedding is a fantastic choice.
More Intentional
A common theme throughout the intimate weddings we have been involved with is that every detail is much more intentionally thought through. Because these weddings are smaller and more simple, there is more room for the couple to keep their celebration true to who they are and what they love.
Keep in mind that a smaller wedding doesn’t mean less fun. You can be intentional about every detail and still plan the party of the century; it just means that it will be a little easier to manage. Doesn’t that sound like a win-win?
Room for Creativity
Intimate weddings really allow couples to be creative with the details. This can mean anything from keeping everything extremely simple to diving into an elegant theme or somewhere in between. Because you have fewer guests, your budget will have more room for fun and unique details.
Let us let you in on a little secret: for most weddings, the number of guests you invite is directly related to the wedding expenses. So keeping it personal can leave you with more room in your budget for things that are important to you and your fiance.
Time with Loved Ones
When you get to the heart of why weddings are so important, it’s all about being able to celebrate with the people you love the most. For some couples, that list can be pretty long, but usually, it’s less of a chore to narrow down the guest list than you might think.
In an intimate wedding, you can skip the small talk and awkward pleasantries with distant relatives. Make your day full of intentional conversations and heartfelt embraces between you and your closest loved ones. All those meaningful moments are what add up to an unforgettable day.
Flexibility in Locations
A common reason why couples choose to elope is the chance to travel somewhere magical. For intimate weddings, you can have that flexibility as well. Is there a place you’ve traveled to together that holds special meaning to you? Planning your wedding is a beautiful way to honor those memories and create new ones.
This bride and groom chose to gather their close friends and family for an intimate affair off the coast of Oregon. Don’t these photos feel so cozy and affectionate? With a smaller guest list, you can travel to places that feel personal to you without feeling like you’re leaving guests out.
Intimate weddings are a testament to the adage “less is more.” There are so many voices pushing the idea that you need to do more and buy more for your wedding. Instead, focus on quality over quantity. From fostering genuine relationships with loved ones to celebrating in unique locations, intimate weddings are absolutely stunning and completely unforgettable.
